Skate 3 Browser Versions, Compared

There is no single Skate 3 browser build. There are community projects with different inputs, different requirements and different missing content. This page is the honest comparison before you commit to one.

Short answer

Pick the build that matches what your machine can already do. A build that expects converted game data will not run without it, and a build that needs WebGPU will not fall back to something slower.

Every build in detail

Browser fan project

Skate 3 Fan Game

The community project most players mean when they search for Skate 3 in a browser. It streams the game world straight into the page, but it asks you to supply your own converted copy of the game data, and the first load is slow because of it.

Requirements

  • Your own game data — The build reads game files you convert and provide yourself. It does not include them.
  • Desktop browser — Playable on a desktop. Phone behaviour depends on the build and is often unverified.
  • Stable connection — Game data is streamed on demand, so a slow or unstable connection shows up as long loading and stutter.
  • Keyboard or gamepad — Both work on the builds that document them. Touch controls are limited.

Not verified
  • You must supply your own converted, legally obtained game data.
  • The first load streams a large data file before the menu appears.
  • Listings claim phone support. We have not confirmed it ourselves.
  • Multiplayer availability is not confirmed for the public build.

Open-source WebGPU rebuild

Skate 3 Clean Room

A rebuild written from scratch with Rust and WebGPU. Because it does not ship any original game data, it is the easiest build to just open in a tab — but it needs a WebGPU-capable browser, and it is not the full 2010 game.

Requirements

  • WebGPU browser — Chrome, Edge or another recent browser on a desktop GPU. Safari and older GPUs may not work.

Multiplayer
Partial
  • Not the original game: no career mode, no Hall of Meat, no full city areas.
  • Needs a browser with WebGPU enabled.
  • Three large city areas are still not playable in the browser build.
  • Multiplayer rooms are built, but the public relay was not deployed when this was last checked.

Which one should you open first?

On a modern desktop

Both are worth trying. Start with the rebuilt version if you want the fastest way in, and the fan project if you want the world and the tricks that look like Skate 3.

On a weaker or older machine

Try the fan project first, and expect to reduce the frame rate or close other tabs. A GPU without WebGPU support rules the rebuilt version out entirely.

Why some details say not verified

Capability claims here come from each project's documentation and from the community. Where we have not reproduced a claim ourselves, the table says so instead of repeating it as fact.

Version questions

+Is one of these the original Skate 3?

No. Neither build is the 2010 retail game. One runs game data that you convert and supply; the other is a from-scratch rebuild with its own limited content.

+Can I switch between versions mid-game?

No. Switching versions reloads the player with a different build, and any unsaved state in the previous build is gone.

+Do both builds have the same maps?

No. The projects ship different content, and the rebuilt version is still missing some large areas. Check the build's own map list rather than assuming parity.
